AROMATHERAPY (ITEC DIPLOMA)

This course is designed to enable the student to become qualified in Aromatherapy, the art of massage with essential oils.

Students will learn how to give their clients a safe, beneficial and professional aromatherapy treatment.

The course covers the following theory:-:

History & Definition of Aromatherapy
Why and how it works
Therapeutic effects - physiological
In depth knowledge of 40 essential oils
Use, care and storage of oils
A knowledge of carrier oils
Philosophy of Complementary Medicine
Introduction to other Natural Therapies (Herbalism, Homeopathy, Reflexology, Shiatsu etc).
The holistic approach - treating the whole person
Basic knowledge and recognition of skin types
Integral Biology [i.e. how the body is affected by environmental and social factors)
Simple blending of Essential Oils / Synergies
Dangers of overdose and safety considerations
Contraindications - possible reaction to treatment
Professionalism and Ethics
Consultations, Case Histories and Records
Basic knowledge of accelerators: radiant heat/infra red

ITEC Anatomy Physiology and Massage Diploma [or equivalent) must be held by students taking this Course. And the following practical requirements:-

Aromatherapy Massage - full body facial and scalp
Frequency and Duration of Treatment (care to avoid overdose)
Selection and blending of oils
Other uses of essential oils
Lymph Drainage and Pressure points
Choice of essential oil - maximum 3 oils,
Case studies histories 1O clients x 4 treatments each

Course Duration: 80 hours over a period of NINE MONTHS.
